Zia Mountain Treats

I received my first order, since setting up the blog. I'm still working through the whole pay pal thing but will happily accept checks until I get it figured out. Just email me at address below.

The chill winds hold the promise of more winter-like weather in the next week. I'm afraid I've been a little spoiled by the long pleasant Fall. I will buck up and bundle up. My candy making came about when we first moved away from South Eastern Idaho back in 1975. The move was to an island up in Alaska. It was my first time away from my immediate family. I realized how homesick I was when my normal Christmas "candy-making day" with my sister wasn't going to happen. Although for years I had been the student, with recipes in hand, and a huge homesick hole in my heart, I rallied some of my friends from church and became the teacher. Thus began my career as a candymaker. I certainly don't know all the tricks but I DO know that you get a kitchen full of friends, some butter, sugar and chocolate. . . . you are going to have a great time.

  1. Speaking as someone who is admittedly biased this stuff is amazing! I have had the experience of sharing my mom's candy with people for years and have had a lot of feed back. You know stuff like "dude when are you bringing more of your mom's candy" and "what is that nugget thingy, it's sooo good." I am excited about her new venture with Zia Mountain Treats because I think my mom is awesome and the more people who get to experience that the better.

My buddy had some of the toffee corn last year and he described it as "like the most super delicious popcorn you've ever had" We were on a road trip later and he had some regular caramel corn and he looks at me and says "your mom ruined this for me"

So to sum up my thoughts, buy her popcorn, it's awesome and she's awesome.

  2. I would have to agree with Bryce. My mom's candy is amazing and she has made me a candy snob, where I can't stand many of the processed stuff. And NEVER someone else's popcorn.

My kids tried a carmel popcorn sample at the store the other day and they had to spit it out cuz it's not grandma's. Amen, there's nothing like this...It's what I often describe as heaven. But mom, you should make it easier for people to know how to order this like a tab that says, "order here" Or "stuff your mouth here"..something like that :)
